About Sortie en Normandie
A guide to outings and tourism in Normandy, in French and English, to plan your stay and make the most of the region once you are there.
The guide in a few words
Sortie en Normandie (www.sortie-en-normandie.fr) is an online guide to outings and tourism in Normandy, covering the five departments of the region: Calvados, Eure, Manche, Orne and Seine-Maritime. It is published in French and English by Agence BDOR.
What you will find
- Destinations: the five departments, Normandy’s towns, cities and villages, and the region’s great areas, from the Alabaster Coast to the Cotentin, by way of the Côte Fleurie, the Côte de Nacre, the Pays d’Auge and the Perche.
- Things to do: the must-sees, heritage, castles and abbeys, museums, nature and hiking, cycling and greenways, water sports, family outings and ideas for rainy days.
- Beaches: lifeguarded beaches, dog-friendly beaches, Blue Flag beaches, beach clubs, leisure lakes and coastal webcams.
- D-Day 1944: the D-Day beaches, museums and memorials, visiting itineraries and commemorations.
- What’s on: ideas for weekend outings, festivals, local festivities and traditions.
- Plan your stay: when to go, getting around, tourist offices, where to stay and practical information.
How the guide is made
Each place guide brings together the essentials you need to decide and get organised: address, opening hours, prices, access, best season and places to see nearby. Practical information is dated and its sources are cited at the end of the article. Articles are signed “The Sortie en Normandie editorial team”. The rules that guide our writing are set out in our editorial policy, and the team’s work is described on the Editorial team page.
The guide also improves thanks to its readers: the “Has something changed?” form in every article reports an error to the editors, and organisers can suggest their events for the events calendar.
Independence and funding
The guide is free. It is funded by advertising and by partner links (activities and accommodation) that may earn us a commission; they are labelled “Partner links”. This income decides neither which places are featured nor what we think of them. Content paid for by an advertiser is always labelled “Sponsored content”.
