Opening hours, prices, tides, access to the coast: what may change between our last check and your visit.
Information provided for guidance only
Sortie en Normandie checks its practical information (opening hours, prices, access, event dates) with official sources, and gives the date of the last check at the end of each article. This information may nevertheless change without notice: exceptional closure, works, new prices, an event cancelled or postponed.
Before you set off, check the information on the official website of the venue or the organiser, especially if you are travelling from far away or booked a long time in advance.
Coast, tides and outdoor activities
- On the Normandy coast, the sea can come in fast and far, especially during spring tides: check the day’s tide times and coefficient before walking on the foreshore, going shore fishing or reaching a site that the sea can cut off.
- In the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, do not walk out into the bay without a guide: the tide, quicksand and fog make crossing it dangerous.
- At the foot and on the top of the cliffs, particularly on the Alabaster Coast and the Bessin coast, rockfalls can happen at any time: keep your distance from both the edge and the base, and respect closed paths.
- Hiking, cycling, swimming, sand yachting and boat trips are at your own risk: adapt your route to your level and to the weather, choose lifeguarded beaches and follow the instructions posted on site.
- D-Day sites and military cemeteries have their own opening hours and visiting rules, set by the bodies that manage them: please follow them and respect the solemnity of these places.
